The Process

The plan will take one year to develop and will suggest goals and implementation guidelines for the next 20 years. The following description and timeline explain the overall approach:

Community Input
Stakeholder and community input will be collected through a total of 15 meetings located around Kaua`i. The outcomes from 10 stakeholder meetings will feed into five community meetings, which will be held April 30 through May 13. Energy Analysis
An in-depth analysis of Kaua`i's energy use baselines and patterns, and renewable energy potential, will be conducted.

Report Development
The community/stakeholder input will be integrated with the energy analysis to produce a draft plan. This plan will be presented to the community for input in 2009 through a "webinar" (an online seminar). There will be a one month period open to feedback and comments (via phone or e-mail) that will be considered for the final report.

The County and SENTECH Hawaii are taking additional time to complete the plan.  The draft plan’s release date, along with the dates of the public meeting, the webinar and the public comment period will be announced soon.

The final plan will be released to the public in January 2010.

Implementation
After the final plan has been released, the SENTECH Hawai`i Team will hand off the plan for implementation by Kaua`i County and the private sector.
