Kauai Sustainability Briefing

June 4, 2014

An informational briefing on Kauai’s sustainability activities was hosted by Mayor Bernard Carvalho Jr. and Hawaii Green Growth on June 4, 2014 at Kauai Community College. The briefing included presentations from an 8-person panel followed by an interactive open house. Kauai speakers highlighted the island’s progress across key sustainability areas. The session was offered to Kauai leaders and professionals in government, non-profit organizations and the private sector working on sustainability efforts.

The occasion was the quarterly two-day Hawaii Green Growth meeting being held for the first time on Kauai and attended by representatives of public and private sustainability efforts from around the state. Hawaii Green Growth presented an overview of the Sustainability Measures Start-Up Project, which is developing joint sustainability indicators to track progress on 2030 sustainability targets and the Aloha+ Challenge, a shared statewide commitment to these targets.
