Inspire a child to learn! The Department of Education is recruiting people for the Community Volunteers in the Classroom program. Launched in January 2007 by Kauai Planning & Action Alliance in collaboration with the DOE, the program provides support for teachers and one-on-one and small group tutoring for children and youth.
Time requirements for volunteers are fairly flexible. You can assist from one to five days a week, for two hours per day or more. Just complete an application, then the DOE will contact your references and conduct a brief background check. You will then be matched with a teacher, task, and time that will be most convenient and rewarding for you.
Helping a student to solve an academic problem or sharing an “aha” discovery can be one of life’s unforgettable moments.
For more information, contact Bridget Arume, PCNC Coordinator, at 621-6972 x116 or download the APPLICATION (Adobe Acrobat Downloadable File) now.
